Overview

Darko advises on international infrastructure, telecommunications, energy transition and conventional energy (including renewables) and transport projects. He has significant experience advising sponsors, lenders, multilateral institutions, contractors and host governments on the structuring, financing (including loans, bonds, hybrid and derivatives financings) and development of major projects in France and internationally. He also has significant experience in infrastructure and energy M&A transactions.

Darko has advised on numerous transactions in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

Darko was one of a team developing innovative financing structures, including credit enhancement facilities and project bond enhancements, on behalf of the European Investment Bank.

Before joining Linklaters, Darko worked as in-house counsel for BNP Paribas in London, focusing on legal and contract management.

Work highlights

Darko has led on many market-leading projects. These include advising:

    • the arrangers on the structuring of a €2.4bn financing to a special purpose vehicle (IFT), owned by Iliad, Free and InfraVia Capital Partners under a partnership aimed at accelerating FTTH (fibre to the home) rollouts outside very densely populated areas of France
    • the lenders to Allego, one of the leading developers of European high power EV charging stations solutions for businesses and individuals in the context of a €120m structured French law financing of its business, involving the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium
    • Meridiam, a leading infrastructure investment fund, and Allego, one of the leading developers of European high power EV charging stations, in the context of the structuring and implementation of a pan-European project to build, maintain, operate and finance several EV charging points across Europe
    • the lenders on the financing, construction and operation of a wind farm by InfraVia Capital Partners located in Sweden
    • Aéroports de Paris, the Caisse des Dépôts and SNCF Réseau on the CDG Express project
    • Vauban on the financing of the acquisition of a stake in the Indigo Group
    • the lenders of a consortium led by Meridiam on their bid submission for the award of a concession for the construction, maintenance, operation and financing of Belgrade airport in Serbia

Professional experience

Darko was one of the authors of the French chapter of the international edition of The Projects and Construction Review.

Education and qualifications

Darko holds master’s of banking and financial, and business law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University.

Darko speaks English, French and Serbo Croatian.
