French Government to adapt corporate law during the Covid-19 epidemic
As announced by the French President, the Government has tabled to the Parliament a draft law to authorize the adoption by way of governmental order (ordonnance) of various exceptional temporary measures to address the emergency situation resulting from the Covid-19 outbreak and the lockdown imposed to limit its expansion.
Among a wide range of measures in various areas of law, the proposal includes changes relating to the adaptation and simplification of certain rules of corporate law relating to the meetings of corporate bodies (shareholders’ meetings and board meetings), reporting obligations and dividend distributions.
The details of the measures still remain to be determined but key changes are likely to address a number of issues.
