Our key Sustainable Finance experience
In this edition of our annual note, we provide a high-level summary of some of the topics we expect to be on the agenda for mainstream debt issuance from January 2022.
The proposal is part of the EU’s wider agenda on sustainable finance and lays the foundation for a common framework of rules for issuers of bonds that voluntarily wish to use the designation ‘European green bond’ or ‘EuGB’ for green “use of proceeds” bonds (i.e. bonds where the proceeds are used to finance green assets or projects) that pursue environmentally sustainable objectives under the EU Taxonomy Regulation.
On 22 June 2021, the FCA published two consultation papers with proposals to extend reporting in line with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) to:
"ESG" in the broadest sense covers environmental, social and governance issues but consensus on details of the meaning can vary and public perceptions are changing rapidly.
Our ESG team has a robust understanding of the regulatory and policy drivers of the market and experience across a wide range of sectors and contexts. We take a holistic approach, covering a wide range of areas - from climate change and resource efficiency, human rights and community engagement, antibribery and corruption, transparency and disclosure, product governance, and risk management more generally.
