A selection of our most recent experience includes:

  • advising News Corporation’s Management and Standards Committee, chaired by Lord Grabiner, on all aspects of its handling of the News of the World phone hacking case and police payments investigation (including on data privacy and employment issues)
  • advising a number of multinational corporates across multiple sectors in relation to dawn raids conducted by national competition authorities and the European Commission
  • advising leading global integrated security company G4S on an investigation into billing practices under electronic monitoring contracts with the UK Ministry of Justice in response to overbilling allegations
  • advising BAE Systems in connection with UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and US Department of Justice (DoJ) corruption investigations, and on Lord Woolf’s review of compliance and ethics in the defence industry
  • taking the lead in April 2014 as the first firm to launch a campaign in relation to with the proactive management of whistleblowing issues (‘Listen-up!’), which led to the development, in conjunction with Public Concern at Work, of our market-leading innovative e-learning training product
  • undertaking a global compliance review for a multinational heavy industrial company, including assessment of its compliance with anti-bribery and corruption laws and with safety, environmental and social regulations and permit requirements
  • advising a major telecoms provider on a series of privacy investigation projects, including an in-depth human rights review focused on privacy and freedom of speech, the drafting of its transparency report and response to UK and US government interception requests
  • advising a South-American state-owned enterprise on the adaptation of its governance model to optimise its ability to compete in the global energy market
  • advising the United Nations Global Compact on its Global Corporate Counsel Initiative to create a guide on the role of in-house counsel in fostering sustainable business across the ten Global Compact principles, including human rights, drawing on good practice explained in interviews with GCs
  • advising a range of corporates on human rights reporting (including on their strategic reports, sustainability reports and modern slavery and human trafficking statements), and assisting companies in the extractives and logging sectors to report payments to governments
  • advising a range of multinational corporations on the development of a range of reporting and transparency requirements, and assisting with their implementation, including advising on measures to facilitate accurate disclosures and reviewing draft publications
  • advising multiple major corporates on compliance reviews and gap analyses, and the design, upgrade and implementation of governance models and compliance programmes on a range of topics, including human rights and anti-bribery and corruption
  • advising underwriters to both U.S. and non-U.S. financial institutions, in connection with due diligence and the U.S. and EU sanctions regime related to various equity and debt offerings
  • advising defendants from Europe, Asia and the U.S. in the major global cartel investigations, for example FOREX, automotive parts, CDS, EURIBOR/LIBOR, power cables, TV tubes, bananas, flat glass and car glass, vitamins, hydrogen peroxide, air cargo and marine hoses
