Pensions Ombudsman Focus August and September 2019 Edition
Welcome to the Pensions Ombudsman Focus for the period of August and September 2019. In this edition, we cover six recent complaints to the Pensions Ombudsman, including:
- A decision by the Pensions Ombudsman to reinstate the benefits of a scheme member after they had been transferred out to a fraudulent scheme, despite the member signing a declaration that they had read and understood anti-scam warnings.
- A decision directing a scheme to reconsider removing a member’s Special Class Status as its decision-making process arrived at a different conclusion to the employer’s without explaining the reason for the disagreement or demonstrating consideration of the relevant facts.
- Complaints as to adequacy of information provided to members (around transfer values, their calculation, bonuses, and increases) which were not upheld.
